Community App for college alumni

Overview

This project involved designing a comprehensive digital platform for AKCAF, a community based in the UAE that unites alumni from a group of colleges. The platform aims to help alumni reconnect, engage, and grow both personally and professionally. The final product consisted of a mobile app for alumni members and an admin dashboard for managing the community.

Why the project

AKCAF sought a solution to digitise and streamline their community activities. The goal was to create a platform where alumni could reunite, interact, and foster professional and personal growth.

My Role

As the UX designer, I contributed to:

• Brainstorming & Conceptualisation: Collaborating with stakeholders to ideate features that would encourage engagement and connectivity among alumni.

• Design Development: Designing user-friendly mobile screens for the alumni app and an admin dashboard for managing the community.

Challenges

• The project had a tight deadline due to the fast-paced nature of the engagement.

• Due to limited resources for primary research, we relied heavily on secondary research from similar community platforms.

• The client had varied opinions on how the platform should be and that led to a lot of iterations during the design and development phase.
